Who is Ken Gire?

Ken has written, co-written, and ghostwritten over 30 books that span a variety of genres. For a list of his published works, educational background, and professional experience, see his bio.

Ken offers wholehearted engagement with his clients, helping them put on paper what has been burning inside them so that it catches fire in the hearts of their readers. If needed, he can come alongside a client every step of the way, from brainstorming an initial idea to a polished manuscript that is ready to be presented to literary agents and publishers.

What services does he offer?

How is working with Ken a unique experience?

As a self-taught writer, Ken’s path to becoming an award-winning, New York Times bestselling author was an unorthodox one. His passion put him on a path to learn everything he could about the craft. His mentors were art, music, movies, literature, poetry, advertising, drama, architecture, interior design, even greeting cards and billboards. One of the benefits of working with him is that, as you follow your own path as a writer, these mentors will become lifelong traveling companions.

How will I know if I am ready for Ken’s help?

And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. - Anaïs Nin

Where do I start?

When that day comes, email him, and he will schedule a phone call, where you can ask any questions you have.

Cost of Consulting Services

The cost of Ken’s services depends on the needs of the client. Some clients, for example, may only need him to help them brainstorm their book, defining the scope of the project, its title and subtitle, the book’s structure, audience for the book, and marketability of the book.

Other clients may want him to help them put a proposal together, which is necessary if the client wants to submit the project to an agent or a publisher.

Still other clients may want him to work with them through the entire project, from brainstorming to polished manuscript.

The only way for Ken to know how much to charge is for him to visit the writer in a process known as “Discovery.” He will fly to where the writer lives in the morning. He will meet with the prospective client from around noon until five.

Afterwards, he will take the writer and his or her spouse to dinner so that the spouse can ask any questions about his services. The meal will be Ken’s treat.

In the morning, Ken will type up a proposal for working with the writer, outlining what the cost would be and a timetable for the completion of his work. If the proposal meets with the client’s approval, Ken will work with the client the remainder of the day, before flying home.

One of the advantages of working with Ken is that he teaches the client how he learned how to write, giving the client valuable tools for future projects.

The Discovery process is $1,500 + travel expenses. The $1,500 is payable immediately through Venmo so that Ken can book his flight. Before he leaves, Ken will give the client a receipt for his travel expenses, payable through Venmo before he leaves.

The first engagement with Ken should be through an email. He will then schedule a phone interview so that you can ask whatever questions you need to in order to feel confident about going forward.
